The Dencun (Cancun-Deneb) upgrade is nearly upon us!
Introducing proto-danksharding, also known as EIP-4844, to both Gnosis & Ethereum Mainnet.
Proto-danksharding, or EIP-4844, introduces blob-carrying transactions. These blobs are large data packets that are inexpensive to include in transactions because they are stored temporarily on the consensus layer rather than permanently on the blockchain, making them a cost-effective way to increase the network's data capacity without increasing gas fees. Each blob can hold up to 128 KB of data, with each transaction capable of carrying multiple blobs. This approach ensures data is widely available without burdening the network with permanent storage, thereby reducing costs for Layer 2 rollups and users.
Looking ahead, proto-danksharding is merely a step towards the broader goal of full Danksharding. Danksharding will further enhance Ethereum's capacity for rollups by allowing the network to handle significantly more data, thereby supporting a higher volume of transactions and making the Ethereum network more scalable and efficient for global use. It represents a shift towards a rollup-centric roadmap for Ethereum, aiming to maintain decentralization while scaling the network to meet global demand
The upgrades for both chains are done on different dates

IMPORTANT - BE READY AND UPGRADE BEFORE!
To be ready for this upgrade, and to not fork off the chain, you will have to make sure to upgrade your node services to the following versions:

If you are running any other service, like Obol Charon, SSV Network, or MEV Boost, make sure to update them to the latest version as well. All of them should be available to you when running Stereum. It is expected that this upgrade will raise your storage requirements slightly. After you have done this, you can relax and wait till the date the update hits.
