Gnosis Solo Staking Guide

Staking

…is the mechanism, by which anyone with the minimum-required balance of 1 GNO can act as a validator for the Gnosis Chain by verifying transactions & creating new blocks. To do this, you are required a “loaded” pair of validator keys with which you sign the actions of your node on the network.

PREPARATION

Don’t forget to install a supported server OS – if you need help, follow our server preparation guide!

SERVER REQUIREMENTS (for staking)

If you go into staking without any experience we recommend to get hardware with the following specs to ensure a smooth validation process and minimize your own risk: 

  • 4 (v)CPU cores/threads
  • 8 GB Memory (RAM)
  • 2TB SSD (good & reliable)
 
AND
  • Broadband internet connectivity, that is stable & fast to reduce your risk of getting slashed
  • patiences to synchronize your node with the chain.

To SOLO STAKE you will also need to get a hold of 1 GNO!

DOWNLOAD & INSTALL THE LAUNCHER OF STEREUM ​

PART 1# GNO NODE SETUP

1.) Type in your login information and click on „login“
2.) Wait for stereum 2.0 to check your OS
3.) Click on „1 Click Installation“
4.) Click on „Choose a network“
5.) Click on „Gnosis“
6.) Click on the staking icon
7.) Click on „Install“
8.) Click on „Next“
9.) Click on „Next“
10.) Click on „Install“
11.) Wait for Stereum to install everything
12.) After the installtion, click on „NODE“
13.) Click on the validator client icon
14.) Click on the settings icon
15.) Click on the edit icon
16.) Paste in your fee recipient address
17.) Check the checkmark
18.) Click on „Confirm“
19.) Click on „CONTROL“
20.) Check if your Node is Synced

PART 2# KEY GENERATION

21) Download the WAGYU Key Generator Application for GNOSIS: https://github.com/alexpeterson91/Gnosis-Wagyu-Key-Gen/releases
22) Start the Application
23) Click on „CREATE NEW MNEMONIC RECOVERY PHRASE“
24) Click on „CREATE“
25) Click on the copy icon and save your key phrase in a safe spot
26) Click on „NEXT“
27) Click on „I’M SURE“
28) Type in your recovery phrase words
29) Click on „CHECK“
30) Type in the number of keys you want to generate
31) Type in a password
32) Paste a withdrawal ETH address into the field
33) Click on „NEXT“
34) Retype your password
35) Click on „NEXT“
36) Click on „BROWSE“ and search fort he folder where you want your keys tob e saved
37) Click on „CREATE“
38) Click on „CLOSE“

PART 3# FUND THE VALIDATOR KEY

Wait till the transaction has been verified, after you will see this: 

For your node to attest you will have to wait for the key to be activated, howevert you can import it beforehand and it will pick up as soon as this is done

PART 4# VALIDATOR KEY IMPORT

45) After your node is synced, click on „STAKING“
46) Click on „CLICK OR DRAG TO INSERT KEY“
47) Search for your key and double click on it
48) Click on the validator client you want to use
49) If you already have a slashing DB you can use it here; If not -> Click on the checkmark „NO“
50) Click on „CONTINUE“
51) Click on „ENTER PASSWORD & IMPORT“
52) Click on the field and type in your key password
53) Click on „CONFIRM“
54) Click on „OK“

YOUR NODE WILL ATTEST WHENEVER YOUR NODE IS SYNCED & YOUR VALIDATOR KEY STATUS KEY IS ACTIVATED

WHENEVER YOUR NODE PICKS UP ATTESTATION DUTY THE SYMBOL WILL TURN GREEN!
